The time of year is here for paper white (or Narcissus) bulbs. These pretty white flowers will fill your house with fragrance for the holiday season. These bulbs are usually planted to flower around Thanksgiving or Christmas, and have a four to six week time from planting to bloom. For a modern twist, you don’t even need soil. They look very elegant in a clear vase with gravel or river rocks on the bottom. Just make sure only the bottom of the bulb sits in the water, and you should quickly see the roots grow out into the stones. A deep vase or hurricane or mason jar works well since it helps support the leaves and flowers once the plant has grown.
