GROWER NOTES:
►Sweet smelling Heliotrope makes a lovely addition to the garden. The blooms smell like cherry pie. Very attractive to butterflies and probably hummingbirds too. Heliotrope looks very good with white or pink flowers. Try upright fuchsias and ferns with heliotrope. Impatiens or begonias would also be good component plants.
GROWTH HABITS:
►There are many different hybrids of Heliotrope. Everything from quite small to the old fashioned type that can get quite tall.Cut them back if they get too tall or leggy. If the weather is above freezing they should winter over.
SHADE/SUN:
►Grow Heliotropes in filtered coastal sun to shade inland.
FEEDING AND WATERING:
►Keep them watered well but not soggy. Be especially sure to not over-water in winter. Feed with any well balanced fertilizer.
FLOWER/FOLIAGE COLOR(S):
►Lovely purple flowers that bloom all summer into fall. Spent flowers are not attractive and need to be removed (dead headed).
