COMMON NAME:
► Pot Dahlia

SCIENTIFIC NAME:
► Dahlia

GROWERS HINTS:
► There are many different varieties of Dahlias. Some stay very small and others get very, very large. The ones we grow have large flowers and get to be a medium size. .

GROWTH HABITS:
► Dahlias grow quickly and often need to be staked to keep them from falling over. Snails love them so put out snail bait immediately. When your Dahlia begins to go to sleep in the fall you can begin to take away the water. Always leave some of the stems attached to the tubers. This is where your new growth will come from next season.

SHADE/SUN:
► Give them at least half day or more of sun. Full sun is best.

FEEDING AND WATERING:
► Be sure to keep them fed and watered with a balanced fertilizer. Don’t let them dry out and they will bloom for a long time.

FLOWER/FOLIAGE COLOR(S):
► Green foliage, a range of lovely colors and sizes of blooms.

SEASON(S) CARRIED AT WEIDNERS:
► Spring/Summer

CONTAINER OR GROUND:
► Grow them in a big pot, or plant them in the ground. If you transplant be very careful as they can be brittle.

PARTICULAR PESTS:
► Watch out for snails. Evelyn says put out the snail bait then the Dahlia. OK, she doesn’t mean you actually put out the snail bait first but she means immediately after, not the next day!
