COMMON NAME:
► Begonia Dragon Wings
SCIENTIFIC NAME:
►
GROWERS HINTS:
► Dragon Wing is one of the best angel wing type begonias to come along in years. It’s a cane begonia and does not have a tuber or rhizomes as do other types of begonias. When cold weather comes your Dragon Wing will look a bit scraggly. Still blooming perhaps but with some bare stems in between the tops and the bottoms. Let it work its way through winter and when it starts to grow again in the spring cut back to the bottom growth, feed and it will soon regain its old glory. Beautiful mixed with bright blue flowers.
GROWTH HABITS:
► Will grow to be large and bushy but easy to keep smaller.
SHADE/SUN:
You can grow Dragon Wing in the shade or let it adjust to the sun if you live along the coast. It is wonderful in the sun planted in the ground.
FEEDING AND WATERING:
► Give it water and feed it with a good balanced liquid or slow release fertilizer. Like all begonias it doesn’t like to be over watered.
FLOWER/FOLIAGE COLOR(S):
► This begonia grows in a semi hanging manner and will be covered with very large clusters of pink or red flowers. Masses of them. Foliage color varies among varieties.
SEASON(S) CARRIED AT WEIDNERS:
► Spring/Summer
CONTAINER OR GROUND:
► Good in basket or in the ground.
PARTICULAR PESTS:
► Watch out for whiteflies (so what’s new about that?)
