COMMON NAME:
► Ivy

SCIENTIFIC NAME:
► Hederas

GROWER HINTS:
►Ivies are wonderfully versatile and easy to grow. Hederas (ivies) range from the great big leafed outdoor ground cover commonly called Algerian Ivy to the lovely small leafed types you see in hanging baskets and Topiaries.

►These are called English Ivies. There are hundreds of different English Ivies. Everything from the miniature Spechley to beautifully varigated Lady Francis and the lovely green layered look of Shamrock. We all try to learn the names but with over so many varieties we never quite master them all. It’s like learning a foreign language. The older you get the harder it is! Choose the one you like best and follow our easy directions.

GROWTH HABITS:
►Outdoors Ivies are easy. Indoors can be a bit more challenging. Most ivies don’t like the dry indoor atmosphere. Here are some tips for success. Best advice: Spray your ivy with an anti-Transpirants (Cloud Cover or other brands) to keep it fresh and healthy.

►OR…Give your indoor ivies and mild soap and water shower once every couple of weeks. Swish off the leaves with water and a few drops of your favorite liquid soap. OR…buy two ivies for the same spot. Put one outside and one indoors and change them every week or so. Works wonderfully.

SHADE/SUN:
►Prefers at least some shade for the best look.

FEEDING AND WATERING:
►Water, fertilize and cut back when needed. It is friendly to wash the dust off your Ivy at least once a month. Ivy likes to be kept watered but they certainly don’t like to sit in water….rots the roots very quickly! Better to keep an ivy on the dry side than the wet side.

FLOWER/FOLIAGE COLOR(S):
►No flowers but lovely varied leaf shapes and variegations.

SEASON(S) CARRIED AT WEIDNERS:
►Spring/Summer

CONTAINER OR GROUND?
►Ivy can grow in the ground or in baskets or pots. If you are planting in the ground and want the sturdiest and easiest care…plant your Ivy really deep in the ground. Use really good soil and make sure that you water realy well when you plant.
