Angelonia - Weidners Gardens

COMMON NAME:
► Summer Snapdragon

SCIENTIFIC NAME:
► Angelonia augustifolia

GROWER HINTS:
► At first glance,  this plant would make you think of a Penstemon. It’s not. It is a native of Mexico and the West Indies, and is not even related to Penstemon. Watch for freezing nights and protect if needed. Try using it as a filler between other plants. Angelonia makes a nice cut flower.

GROWTH HABITS:
► Angelonia is a perennial. It grows best in flower beds, but also does well in large pots. Once established it seems to do well with minimum care. Cut it back in the spring when it starts to grow, or anytime it gets too big.

SHADE/SUN:
► Sun

FEEDING AND WATERING:
► It is a good drought tolerant plant once it is established.

FLOWER/FOLIAGE COLOR(S):
► There are a variety of flower colors. New angelonias are introduced all the time. Lower growing, basketing varieties, better colors. We choose the ones we think will do best for you.
